The legal environment resulted in my enrolment at UNISA June 2004 and obtaining the LLB degree in December 2008.

I attended the School for Legal Practice at UCT in 2009 and completed the contract of articles at 2 (two) established firms in the Northern Suburbs. After admission as an Attorney in November 2009 I have pursued a legal career in the financial services industries and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. In 2015 I have returned to practising law and have continued to pursue my passion at law firms in and around Cape Town.

I offer clients a set of diversified skills across various fields of law. My expertise lies with civil litigation, family and commercial law. Law and people are my passions. I am personable and “hands on” with legal disputes and seek “practical outcomes” for clients.

Dieter Schuttler

Raised in the vibrant atmosphere of the Northern suburbs of Cape Town, this proudly South African attorney pairs sharp legal insight with an easy-going, approachable style.

After graduating with an LLB (cum laude), he joined Bornman & Hayward, a practice grounded in general law — enjoying the variety, challenge, and strategy that come with tackling matters across the legal spectrum.

From contracts and disputes to regulatory questions and everyday legal puzzles, he thrives on finding practical, common-sense solutions.

While his interests span broadly, he has a particular soft spot for labour law, where people, policy, and the realities of the workplace intersect in fascinating ways.

Known for being thorough without being intimidating, and professional without being overly serious, he believes good lawyering is equal parts precision and personality.

When he’s not immersed in case law, you’ll likely find him enjoying a great cup of tea, and soaking up the ocean air and energy of the coast — proof that balance is just as important as billable hours.

Motto: “Pray God lets me see tomorrow”.

I thank Bornman & Hayward for the invaluable help they have provided me with as one of their Clients since August 2016. Their service, guidance and understanding while handling my case was incredible. I am grateful for their efforts and look forward to continue business relations with them in future.
